So much to explore
There are literally so many different things to do in the Lakes, the Eden Valley, the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales that we by no means can itemise them all here. However, for those of you that are new to the area or would be interested in a little inspiration, we have put together on this page some of our favourite things to do while staying in the cottage.

Local Walks
You can walk from Dunkeld Cottage along the River Eden to Temple Sowerby and back via Priest Lane – a gorgeous little country lane with views over the Pennines.
Other local bridleways and footpaths from the cottage lead you to the villages of Bolton and Long Marton – both having great pubs as a welcome reward!
Julia Bradbury champions ‘High Cup Nick’ in her walking guide ‘Unforgettable Walks – Best Walks with a View’ – she chooses this walk as one of her 8 favourite walks in the UK! You can climb High Cup Nick from Dufton – a gorgeous little village just a few minutes drive from the cottage.

Your gateway to the Lakes
Dunkeld Cottage is a 10 minute drive from Penrith which apart from catering for all your shopping needs, overs a choice of easily accessible routes into the most popular areas of the Lake District.
From Penrith the roads to Lake Ullswater, the village of Grasmere and bustling town of Keswick offer journey times of 15 - 30 minutes depending on your choice of destination.
